2017

Nine models floating on the ponds of Ixelles.  At the invitation of La Loge, Brussels, during How Do Buidings Care #3: Intimacy.

Not unlike its origins in early modern park designs such as that of the English Landscape Garden, which specifically composes nature to unfold as narrative, the ponds of Ixelles are an example of many urban parks built in that period, which one could argue is an early form of engineering theatricality into public space in the process of developing modernist ideology of the individual. Reflecting on this mode of address and on questions surrounding

authenticity, the project aims to inspire a sense of remoteness; via the theatrical distance of the pond and the generic objects that float on it like an auto-fiction. They are oversized low-poly models of debris, finished in a standard grey color used in 3D modelling softwares.
